Book Description
This book traces the transformations in Wittgenstein's understanding of foundations from the Tractatus to On Certainty. Conway rejects characterizations of Wittgenstein as an anti-foundationalist, an extreme relativist, and a conventionalist. She delineates the distinctly Wittgensteinian account of foundations as involving an objectivism without absolutism and a 'concrete a priori'. Not least of Conway's achievements is her outstanding analysis of Wittgenstein's concept of 'form of life'.
